During my time in Europe, I was fortunate enough to gain hands-on experience with the different European design concepts. Their number one concept was to build to last through the generations of the family. These homes were built to the highest quality of craftsmanship and durability with efficient use of space. “Waste not, want not”.
The Southpark home was designed after a 15th century Bavarian style post and beam home. As in a forested guard station, Bavarian homes utilized building materials found on site with hand hewn post and beam from logs, red clay roof tiles, waddle and daub adobe type exteriors, typically in white or cream color stucco finish. The design included low ceilings just barely seven feet high, tile floors, and large fireplaces on each level for heat.
